AUGUST 1, 2021
As the band Europe once so famously proclaimed, “It’s the final countdown!”
The “Book of Legend” campaign is about to end and it has not gone well. I knew it would be kind of a difficult sell because anthologies don’t seem to be big attractions in comicdom and being a nobody with a bunch of original, non-bosomy characters doesn’t help counter that.
But I was hoping I could at least hit the initial goal to have printed copies of the book.
Also, this campaign and the “six:eight” campaign were meant to at least create the foundation that future projects/campaigns could be built upon. I wasn’t expecting the whole house, just the slab to start building on. But there’s still time so not all hope is lost.

“BOOK OF LEGEND” countdown!
You still have a chance to back “Book of Legend” on Kickstarter. The campaign ends on August 6th at 10pm EST.
Click here to go directly to the Kickstarter campaign page.
I found out about a non-profit organization called Comic Books for Kids that sends comic books, coloring books, Funkos, etc to kids in hospitals and cancer centers. I think this is a great cause and I'll be doing whatever I can to support them.
For now, what I've decided to do is donate some copies of my daughter's "Agents of S.H.H." mini-comic to them by matching whatever anyone buys on this campaign. So, if we sell 20 copies of the book, I'll send 20 copies to CB4K. And I will be sending them books regardless of what happens in the campaign.
So please considering adding-on a copy (or 2) of "Agents of S.H.H." or go to the Comic Book for Kids website and see if there is anyway you can help.
“Agents of S.H.H.” trading cards!
As I mentioned in the previous newsletter, my daughter made her own mini-comic, called “Pea, Bea and Jay: Agents of S.H.H.”
Since the premise revolves around the main characters collecting mystical objects, we decided to create accompanying trading cards of the objects.
They’re basically Pokemon-style cards that are meant to add an extra layer of fun and collectability.
I printed out a few samples using Comix Well Spring and I think they came out pretty good.
GunEngine Zero!
Colorist Anton Bandi has joined Ian Waryanto and me on the next Rainy Road project, “GunEngine Zero”.
This is the first project that I will have to crowdfund from the get-go since I can no longer dump money into projects with the hope of one day making it back. That hasn’t been a successful strategy so far.
But I will be producing the first 6 pages and some promo pieces so everyone can get a taste of what’s in store.
I’ll be including much more details and preview artwork in the next newsletter so stay tuned!
HOT OFF THE PRESSES!
Rainy Road comics and graphic novels you can get right now.
Neotheric Volume 1 — This 96-page graphic novel collects issues #1 - #4. Anthropomorphic dinosaurs escape their alien slave masters and return to modern-day Earth to live free but their actions cause chaos across the cosmos. It’s a scifi/action/comedy for mature readers. Buy it on Amazon here.
Comixology — Digital versions of our books can be found here. (For now, at least. I’ve never received a dime from Comixology so I’m debating whether to remove all of my books from their site.)
Comichaus App — If you prefer your digital comics “sans-Bezos”, you can also get them here and for much cheaper!
T-SHIRTS!
I’ve uploaded a bunch of t-shirt designs to Store Frontier that you might want to check out. I’ve tried Red Bubble, Teepublic and Teespring but they always had problems. Either the shirts weren’t printed correctly or the quality of the shirts were poor. I ordered one of the “Rainy Road logo” shirts for myself and the printing looks good and the fabric is nice. It’s a lighter weight and softer/stretchier material so it’s good for the summertime. And they have sizes up to 3XL. If you have particular designs or colors (because they only allow me to set 3 colors per design) you’d like to see offered, hit me up and I can see what I can do.
GIVEAWAYS!
If we can reach 100 subscribers to this newsletter, I’ll start giving away random stuff, like comics (or sets of comics), posters, sticker sets, artwork (Oh, my!)
So tell your family, your friends, your enemies, your pets, your pet’s enemies and your social media followers to visit rainyroadmedia.com and sign up for the newsletter.
The more the merrier!
