When it rains, it pours.
This is just going to be a quick update and, I guess, a sort of plea for help.
My wife was recently diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer and is about to start chemotherapy. Aside from the obvious emotional, mental and physical stress this causes, it's also going to put a huge financial strain on our family.
For the last few years, she became the provider while I took on the role of stay-at-home dad and only worked part-time. Because of this, her going through chemo will most likely mean she can’t work as much as normal, therefore, our finances are going to be seriously impacted. Also, I won’t be able to work as much either since I’ll be her primary caregiver as she goes through this whole process.
So, we’re in for a very rough patch.
One thing that could help out — at least, financially — is if I could just sell a bunch of my books. So, I’m putting out the word about this in the hopes that people will consider (or reconsider) going to the Fund My Comic page and getting some or all of the books up for grabs.
Any additional funds coming in would be of great help. And if you’ve already picked up a book, sharing this link on your socials could be just as impactful. Thank you!

Sarcasm alert!
The other “great” thing that is going on in my life is all the work that’s NOT happening on the Book of Legend project I mentioned in the last newsletter. In the last 4 months, I’ve gotten no additional artwork for the primary “anchor” project. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Zero! Oh the joys of working in comics!
I even told the artist that I would pay him for the work he’s done so far so that we could go our separate ways and I could find a new artist to get this thing done. But he never responded. So, once again, I’m stuck here banging my head up against a wall trying to figure out what to do to make things happen.
I try to get projects finished because I’ve always understood that time is precious. But now that’s become intimately and painfully clear. So, this is all just insanely frustrating.
Silver Lining
One positive thing that did happen in these last few months, is that artist Manuel Bracchi completed some character designs for one of the backup characters/stories that would be in future editions of Book of Legend.
This concept would be my homage to classic cartoons, specifically Tex Avery’s stuff. That’s what I would be aiming for, anyway.
By the way, if this kind of stuff tickles your funny bone, search for “Deputy Droopy”. Hands down, the funniest cartoon I’ve ever seen.
Until next time!
