Kickstart My Heart!
I put up a Pre-Launch page for the GunEngine Zero Kickstarter campaign. I thought I could not set one up more than 60 days out from the actual start date (and I don’t know exactly when that will be yet) but I was informed that I was wrong about that by Facebook user, Es Kay. So, shout to him for the hot tip.
Building support ahead of launch is really important, so please go to the pre-launch page HERE and click on the “notify me” button. And feel free to share the link. Every bit helps. Thanks!
By the way, I want to do something special for the people that follow the campaign (and eventually support it) by giving them something extra special as a token of my gratitude but there doesn’t seem to be a way for me to access the user names or email addresses of the Pre-Launch followers. If anyone reading this knows how to access that info, please email me or hit me up on FB or IG.
Right now, Ian is working on character sketches for the 3 other major characters (Sheriff Barney, Harrison and Kez) and I should be able to share those next time.
Also, I found an amazing artist on Fiverr that goes by “Docavestalia” who did this Mya watercolor for me. It’s something different and I think it’s fitting for the character. And I think it came out perfect. I’m not sure how I’ll use this. Maybe as a print or as a variant cover or…?
THE FIRST 4 PAGES
As I mentioned in the last newsletter, I started a series where I read the first 4 pages of novels as a creative writing critique to gauge their effectiveness in hooking readers with their openings.
The Youtube version is HERE on the Rainy Road channel in its own playlist.
Or you can check them out on Rumble HERE.
I also added the first 5 to Spotify HERE, which are all in one “set” so you can listen to them as one continuous episode.
Here’s a list of the first set of videos that are available now:
The Gunslinger: The Dark Tower 1 by Stephen King
Tyrannosaur Canyon by Douglas Preston
LA Dead by Stuart Woods
A Dog’s Purpose by W Bruce Cameron
The Late Show by Michael Connelly
I’m a little late with adding more episodes because my whole family has been dealing with the Vid for the last 2 weeks. I had to deal with a lingering headache that made it difficult to stare at a computer screen. But it’s finally starting to wane so I should be able to get back on the horse.
Horror Anthology
As I mentioned in the previous newsletter, I am also developing a horror anthology that I want to offer in conjunction with six:eight Chapter 2, Verse 1 around Halloween. Two of the stories, Rekt and A Little Off The Top, were completed a long time ago and I’ve got artists working on the other 3 stories right now.
The artists are Joaquin Guerra, Brian Azcurra and Ricardo (Rock) Alves. Here’s some sketches by Brian for one of the characters I showed in the last newsletter. The only thing wrong here is that he changed her hairstyle from the reference design. Other than that, I think it looks great and I’m excited to see him do the actual pages. Aren’t you?!
I might add one more story to the book but I haven’t finished the script for that one yet mainly because I haven’t decided if it will be a self-contained story or serialized. So I may hold that one off for the next issue, if there is one.
Neotheric
As I mentioned before, I want to continue Neotheric and I’ve talked with Joaquin Guerra about taking over art duties. We’ve discussed the book, he’s read a PDF of the graphic novel and he is enthusiastic about working on it. So I’ll have to figure out how to fit this into the 2022 schedule.
So, stay on the lookout for the next exciting newsletter for more info and artwork about all these upcoming projects!
